Activities of NSLA Since Inception

The Programmes of the Association include:

  1. Production of guidelines for Nigerian Legislations for School Libraries/Media Resource Centres in 1979.
  2. Publication of Newsletter and Academic/Professional Journal.
  3. Participation in National Workshops on Implementation of the 6-3-3-4 System of Education.
  4. Membership of other learned Societies like NUT, NLA and IASL.
  5. Regular organization of annual conferences, occasional seminars and workshop on library resources development and administration of schools.
  6. Communication of conference resolutions to the appropriate arms of government, groups and individuals in the area of education.
  7. Organization of Continuing Education Programme for school Librarians/Teachers-Librarians in Nigerian schools through workshops, seminars and conferences since 1977.
  8. Participation in other professional programmes such as:

i. International School Library Day (Every 1st Monday of October each year).

ii. International Year of Disabled Persons (IYDP) and specific events such as International Year for Children.
